About the Co-op ~

The ME Co-Op is comprised of 16 women who live in and around Cielo.  Most of them do not have regular jobs and struggle daily to make ends meet. As a group they meet twice a week.  They work on their projects together as well as at home.They began working together in 2006 birthed from an idea from their American friends.  Their first project was a simple tote bag.  In August 2007, they began making Christmas ornaments and have been selling them to earn an income.  They have now taken to jewelry making also and have some beautiful “high-end” stuff.
We are constantly looking for new ideas and ways to help improve their lives.  If you have ideas or questions, please contact us.

Their Stories ~                                                                                                                                                                            Every woman has a story. Working with these Dominican women, one is quick to realize they are special in their own unique ways. Some work quietly while others are more outgoing. They help each other with designs and ideas, fix each others mistakes, and give a helping hand when needed. They minister to one another each week. They hold twice weekly Bible study and discussion usually beginning with prayer and a song.  If you sit at the table with them watching as they work, you see that they are truly women being women.  Take some time to get to know them.
