Dr. Mitchell working on hand and Emmanuel Corsino comforting the patient

Lia Erickson and Michael Mitchell served in our Pediatric Clinic throughout the week. They worked alongside Dr. Sara in the mornings seeing patients. Dr. Mitchell is literally saving a boys life. The child may have cut his hand on a metal fence and a week later he wasn’t real clear on what happened. A week later the infection was so bad his hand was swollen terribly. His father would not take him to the emergency room, probably because of fear of being deported back to Haiti. If Michael hadn’t done minor surgery, the infection would have gotten to the point of him probably losing his hand or worse, his life. Amanda and Dr. Andy assisted him with Emmanuel holding and comforting him.

Anita Skena and Amanda White spent their mornings conducting house visits with Vanessa of M.E. medical staff. During these visits Anita and Amanda offered health care advice and focused primarily on pregnant and postpartum women. Anita and Amanda brought their fetal doppler and were able to let the pregnant ladies hear their baby’s heartbeat – this was a very special moment for everyone in the room!

Dr. Andy Geer

Dr. Andy Geer served in our dental clinic throughout the week. He saw patients every morning. Dr. Geer is passionate about training and equipping our staff in preventative medicine. He brought down a Cavitron which is a dental tool that uses high frequency ultrasonic waves to clean teeth. He trained our dental hygienist and dentist on how to use the machine and donated the Cavitron to the clinic at the end of the week.
