Mission Emanuel Water Treatment Facility

  • Mission Emanuel has finished building a water purification system in Cielo (Spanish word for Heaven). It was quite an undertaking, but the prospects for greater health in the community and expanding ministry opportunities are phenomenal.

In April 2007 an annual Men's Trip team built the storage area for the water system, front patio, and upstairs cistern area.  That summer the plumbing and electrical equipment were added and the system has been fully operational since!

  • Since its opening, Provision del Cielo, (Heaven's Provision) has the capacity to clean and refill 2,000 5-gallon bottles per day. We have been able to sell these bottles for a third of the prevailing rate and of course, give it away to the poorest of the poor who used to drink polluted water.

The Haina river basin, which flows 3 blocks from our Cielo hilltop property, is one of the ten most polluted rivers in the world. Not surprisingly, 80% of the sick people treated in our clinic are due to water-related illnesses. This outreach now has the potential of touching every home in Bayona, a community of over 60,000 people.

We currently have a need to raise $15,000 to complete a key milestone of this project. This current amount will enable us to continue the construction of this facility by the four (4) mission groups working in Cielo in the month of June. While there will still be more funds to be raised for the final completion of this project (and it is within sight!) this milestone amount is necessary for the continued construction and good work by our missionaries next month. Would you please prayerfully consider a special gift to complete this desperately needed outreach?
