Raising the Roof

A 13-year-old dream is becoming a reality.

Our new ministry center/gymnasium is going up at a record pace.

  • The first two floors are up and the steel girders, which will support the roof, are being prepared to go on in the next two weeks.
  • The bell tower and the astronomy observatory tower should be completed within a month. The observatory will be the only one in our area. Children, youth, and adults will be able to discover the vastness of God’s universe. Through linking to our conference room computers, they can watch and learn about the heavens.
  • Families will be able to to come together to watch family-friendly movies and take part in many other family strengthening activities.
  • Through our strong partnership with YoungLife, teens will have a large recreation center to play basketball, volleyball, workout in our weight room, and have large group meetings where they can hear about Christ. Teens will also have an opportunity to go to YoungLife camp in the mountains.
  • The YoungLife Capernaum program for teens with special needs will be started as well.
  • Plans also include concerts, plays, and other outreach programs in cooperation with Cielo Evangelical Church.
  • Equipment plans include a portable batting cage with pitching machine and a pitching cage where future major league hopefuls will perfect their craft.

All of this will be housed in an edifice that is modeled after a 15th-Century cathedral in old town Santo Domingo.

This has come about through the generosity of First Presbyterian Church in Orlando. Their partnership also provided the funding to construct the Mission Emanuel Health Center as well. We now have a full clinic staff including a pediatrician, dentists, a physical therapist and a women’s cancer screening center. Plans are to add women’s clinic in the fall.

We are so thrilled and full of anticipation for the advancement of the Kingdom this center will bring to the communities in which we serve.

The official dedication of this ministry center will happen on our 20th Anniversary Celebration on October 18th. Please join us in the DR at that great event as we celebrate God’s goodness and faithfulness along with our Board and our 70+ staff.
