Mission Emanuel Open Trip to the Dominican Republic

We are excited to have you on (or considering) the Annual Open Trip this Fall. We call this trip “Open” since we invite our friends, partners, and newcomers from all over the US to come and engage in a week of service in the DR.
This page outlines details regarding trip preparation. If you are traveling with a team, you may have your own team planning meetings prior to the trip. Otherwise, individuals or families need to be in communication with us to plan your trip and arrival.
Cost
Ground cost = $1,155 (6 nights) based on deluxe floor, double occupancy rooms (Single occupancy or upgraded to executive floor available upon request at additional cost). Please consult us to discuss those options, especially if you are traveling with children.
This fee includes all ground costs and fees for the time you will be in the DR. Hotel stay, meals, ground transportation are all provided.
This does not include airfare, meals while traveling (in the US), travel insurance ($2/day), passport fees, or extra spending money. Please consult with our team regarding rooming arrangements. Families with children under age 12 may qualify for a discounted rate depending on their rooming preferences.
Travel
Participants are responsible for booking their own airfare. Please fly into Las Americas International Airport (SDQ). American Airlines, United, Delta, JetBlue, and Spirit fly into Santo Domingo. If possible, please try to make your arrival to the DR between the hours of 12-6pm. As soon as you book your flight, we need an emailed copy of the complete itinerary in order to put you on the pickup schedule. (Please forward this itinerary to holly@missionemanuel.org and nicole@missionemanuel.org as soon as you receive it.) Mission Emanuel staff will greet you at the airport upon your arrival.
*For returns to the US with a connecting flight, we highly recommend 2+ hours during your layover because you will need to go through immigration, baggage claim, and security to enter the US. The larger the group, the more time you will need.
Deposit and registration
Deposits and trip registrations are due August 1, 2023. We require a $200 non-refundable deposit for each trip participant. Balances are due September 29, 2022. All payments may be made to Mission Emanuel. To register for the trip, go to: https://bit.ly/MEtripapp2023 and complete the application. Please note you will need your passport and medical insurance information on hand when you register.
Each participant is also required to have travel insurance. We recommend Seven Corners. They have several options for international travelers. They can be found at www.sevencorners.com.
